Luuk began music lessons at a young age, learning skills like listening, adapting, improvising and collaborating that he would later apply beyond music. His passion and daily practice helped him progress quickly.Since his second year of high school he aimed for the conservatory. Due to a long waiting list for percussion students, his teacher encouraged him to start teaching beginners, which he did from age fourteen. While studying, Luuk developed a nonverbal music workshop for South African primary schools, using music and body language to communicate despite language barriers. He graduated in 2013 as a classical percussionist from Codarts, the Conservatory of Rotterdam. During and after his studies, he performed with renowned orchestras including the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, the Metropole Orkest and gave a solo with the Residentie Orkest. Teaching continued to play a big role in his development and helped him improve his own technique and grow as an instructor. In 2011 he joined the theatrical percussion quartet Persossa, touring Europe, the US and Canada. This project led to Electric Tribe, a band combining percussion with electronic music and visual effects. He also performed in musicals such as Tarzan and Mary Poppins and was principal percussionist for Evita, Titanic and Les Misérables from 2019 to 2024, touring the Netherlands and Belgium. These experiences made him a versatile all-round percussionist.Alongside his musical career, Luuk completed multiple NLP certifications. He realized his musical background had already given him an intuitive grasp of many NLP techniques. Noticing strong connections between NLP and music, he combined both passions to create a unique team building workshop using rhythm, communication and group dynamics. With this approach Luuk shares his expertise with a wider audience.Interested? In the compact workshops, we explore body percussion by using nothing but our own bodies to create rhythm, sound, and playful interaction. Participants learn a few simple hand signals that guide us through group improvisation, making each session dynamic and unique.
Along the way, we actively practice important skills like following and leading, listening, improvising, exploring, and creating together. It is a fun and energising way to break the ice in new groups or to deepen the connection within groups that already know each other.
No musical experience is needed. Just curiosity, open ears, and a willingness to join in.
The extended workshop covers body percussion as in the compact workshop. Links will be made between several NLP subjects and body percussion, which will help participants be more aware of their communication. All workshops are tailored to your specific needs.
